OpenAI, Inc. (OpenAI Foundation) holds a control right over ↓ OpenAI LP
OpenAI’s March 2019 announcement stated that OpenAI LP is controlled by the board of OpenAI Nonprofit, whose legal name it gave as OpenAI Inc. It also stated that only a minority of board members may hold financial stakes in the partnership at one time, and that only members without such stakes may vote on decisions where the interests of limited partners and the nonprofit’s mission may conflict, including payouts to investors and employees. Date 2019-03-11 · announcement Scope and limits The publisher’s description of its structure; the partnership agreement was not inspected. The post’s caption says that in its paperwork “the general partner” refers to OpenAI Nonprofit, while the tax year 2019 Form 990 lists OpenAI GP LLC, a disregarded entity of OpenAI Inc, as the partnership’s direct controlling entity. These records do not settle which entity was the general partner in law. The 2019 post also lists the board’s members; that list is not recorded here.

Relation. A documented right through which the subject controls, or shapes the governance of, the object — controlling it as sole member or general partner, holding its voting control, or electing, appointing or removing its directors — through a named instrument and from a stated date. Stage separates planned, announced or agreed arrangements from effective ones. A control right is not an ownership share: an equity stake, an observer seat or a board seat is not control, and none is inferred from another.
Date. Date of the announcement (day precision).
