Date 1955-10-14 · event Role Context Register (kind of text) Nonfiction Missing element Self-identification only; it establishes that an economist was the subcommittee's opening analytical witness on automation in October 1955, not what economics as a field held. Tier Tier 1. Prepared statement by an economist ("as an economist", associate professor at Georgia Tech, shown in the text); a substantive argued statement. Tier 1 by maintainer decision of 2026-10-12 (economist testimony). Conditions He adds that he speaks 'for myself only'. Scope and limits Wording checked against the raw IA djvu text (cached .html). The cached .txt extraction omits printed pp. 29-37, so the shared checker reports NO MATCH for every Buckingham quote; an equivalent normalised check against the .html returns a match. The OCR renders the comma after 'only' as '?'; the quote starts after it.
