Moravec's essay of 1993 states that robots will eventually reason like humans and that, depending on the reader's point of view, humanity will then have produced "a worthy successor" or transformed itself, and that fourth-generation robots will design their own successors. In a section on the early 2000s it describes money from robot industries, collected as corporate taxes, funding "the long, comfortable retirement of the entire original-model human race".
