Goertzel's answers in the interview he gave de Garis (2011; read in the 2015 e-book reprint) state that a species dominance war is one way the future could go but that there is "no reason to think it’s the most likely way", and describe a gradual fusion of humans with machines in which there would be "no species dominance debate". They state that such conflicts could occur but that focusing on their consequences "seems pointless". Copy claim link

Date 2011-03-30 · publication Records dated 2011 → Wording attested 2015. Wording read in the author's e-book 'de Garis Essays' (listed by the author as 2015; PDF created 2015-01-18), essay A8; the Humanity+ Magazine page was not read. Role Contesting Register (kind of text) Nonfiction Engagement Engages a premise. Disputes that disagreement over building superhuman machines will divide humans into opposed groups (proposing a gradual human–machine fusion in which no such debate arises) and that war between them is likely, while granting that conflict could occur. Scope and limits Goertzel allows that conflict could occur; he disputes its likelihood and the value of focusing on it.
