Date 1997-09-26 · publication Role Context Register (kind of text) Nonfiction Missing element A passing list item that protein synthesis machines may be reachable over the Internet; it does not argue the point. Scope and limits Premise addressed: Intelligence without physical actuators of its own is not dangerous. Stated in passing as one item in a list; implies that an AI with network access need not have a body of its own. The fuller argument appears in his Extropians message of 2000-09-05 and, in a 1999 Extropians message (1999-06-17), as an AI sending a DNA sequence to a synthesizer. Quotation shortened to respect the ~10% cap for a short message.
